The Junior Prep Hockey camp is an invitational camp for 11-19 year old hockey players that are striving to make it to the Junior Hockey level in Canada and the U.S.  The camp focuses on conditioning and player development and gives players a chance to showcase their talents in front of the very coaches they are hoping to play for. This is a serious camp for serious hockey players.  The camp runs three, one-week sessions.  The first week of camp focuses on specific skills for Defence, Forwards and Goaltenders; and the second two weeks are for skills and development for all positions.  Players can choose to come to one week or combine any of the three weeks for a total training experience. This year we are having 3 separate weeks of the Pee Wee Camp and also for the first time we are offering a Referee Camp handled by NHL & WHL referees.

Confirmed to date for this year’s camp are Junior “A” coaches led by Trent Cassan (Yorkton Terriers, SJHL), Ed Zawatsky (Yorkton Terriers, SJHL), Rick Schievink (U17 and former Alberni Valley Bulldogs), Terry Ewasiuk (Portage Voyaguers, ACAC) Jim Ingram (Trail Smokeaters, BCHL), Rylan Ferster (Salmon Arm Silverbacks, BCHL), Shane Kuss (Surrey Eagles, BCHL) and we are working on others to be announced shortly.

We’re pleased to announce that Goaltender training will be handled by Ryan Cyr and Brady Robinson of GDI (Goaltenders Development Institute) www.gdihockey.com and off ice conditioning will be led by Hockey Specific Training staff Ryan, Shea and Todd Esselmont. (www.HockeySpecificTraining.ca)

The Junior Prep Hockey camp is unique in that it offers the opportunity for one on one dialogue between players and coaches and evaluators.  Every player receives a written evaluation and scouting packages are available for team scouts. You will be practicing and playing with the very coaches you are hoping to play for.

2010 will mark our fourth year in Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island.  The Port Alberni Multiplex facilities (home of the BCHL Alberni Valley Bulldogs) are second to none, with two NHL sized ice surfaces, large dressing rooms and a great outdoor track for dry land training. Housing and meals are available on site.

Dates for this year’s Junior Prep Camp are July 17 – 22 (for Forward, Defence & Goaltenders), July 23-29 & July 30-Aug 4, for the full camp.  Camp starts early in the morning on the first day and is finished by 4:00 pm on the last day.  Friday is available for travel to and from Port Alberni.  Pricing and registration details are available on the website (www.prepcam.com).  $100.00 will hold your place for 2010, and monthly payment plans are available.

If you have not yet received an invitation to camp and feel you would qualify to attend, please email us at: jim@prepcamp.com. We’ll need information about you, and a phone number or email for your coach to verify your playing level.

Check out our website at www.prepcamp.com for more information regarding this year’s camp.
