April 16, 2008 - GOALIE EQUIPMENT

Due to feedback and responses from the minor hockey associations, the Hockey Canada Board of Directors approved a ONE year delay in the implementation of new goaltender equipment rules, which will now take effect in the  2009-2010 Season.  For full details refer to the bulletin posted on the "Events" page.

The AVMHA Office will be open to take Registrations on March 13th, 19th, & 31st from 6 - 8 pm.  Be sure to register before the end of March to save money.

An "on ice" Coaching clinic (Developing Defensemen and Shooting and Scoring) will take place at the Multiplex on Feb 3rd.  See "Events" for details

AVMHA hockey players will out in the community on Friday Nov. 16th & Saturday Nov. 17th to raise funds in a Tag Day

Sept. 20, 2007 - SANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS

The first tournaments of the year have been sanctioned for the competitive AA divisions.  Refer to the "Events" page for all the details.

Team & Player photos will be taken on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Multiplex.  Times will be announced later

Sept. 1, 2007 - PEEWEE CHECKING CLINIC

Thursday Sept. 6th, 6:30 - 7:30 am for PeeWee players on the Coulson Rink.  Contact Dave Beecroft for more details.

August 20, 2007 --- REP TEAM TRYOUTS

Starting Tuesday, September 4th, tryouts will be held for the competitive (Rep) teams.  Check "Events" for the full schedule.

August 20, 2007 --- FUNDRAISING MEETINGS

Meetings are being scheduled for Rep Teams and for Recreational Teams regarding fundraising for the coming season.  Attendance/representation is mandatory in order for your team to fundraise.  Check "Events" for meeting times.

August 20, 2007 --- REFEREE CLINIC

There is a $65. fee for first time referees to be collected at the clinic, September 8th.  Check "Events" for details for clinic.

August 9, 2007 --- GRANT AVAILABLE TO REGISTER FEMALE HOCKEY PLAYERS

Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Association will partner closely with other local programs, such as the local Canadian Tire JumpStart and KidSport programs to ensure that financial circumstances will not prevent any young females from participating in hockey. The Canadian Tire JumpStart program is a community-based charitable program that helps children in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation. The KidSport Fund is the charitable arm of Sport BC that has been designed to remove the financial barriers that may prevent some kids from playing sports.

Bell Community Sport Fund has provided a grant to pay for the balance of any hockey registration fees not covered by these local chapters for any female hockey player with a financial need.
