Dear Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Families,

It is an honour to introduce myself as the newly elected President of the Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Association. As someone who has been fortunate to be involved in our hockey community, I’m both proud and excited to take on this role and help lead our association into its next chapter.

First, I’d like to thank the coaches, managers, volunteers and outgoing president whose hard work and dedication have built the foundation we stand on today. Their efforts have made it possible for our players to learn, grow, and fall in love with the game.

As we look ahead to the upcoming season, our focus will be on both preserving the strong community spirit that defines AVMHA and raising the level of development and competition across all divisions. Hockey in the Alberni Valley should be fun, inclusive, and safe—but it should also challenge our players to grow, compete, and strive for excellence.

Our Vision Moving Forward:
Enhanced Skill Development: We aim to expand access to high-level training and development opportunities, ensuring that players and coaches at every level are supported and pushed to improve.

Stronger Competitive Programs:
From recreational to rep, we want to ensure that all players have the chance to play at the right level and be part of well-coached, high-performing teams.

A Culture of Accountability and Growth:
By emphasizing commitment, work ethic, and team-first mentality, we hope to shape players who not only succeed on the ice but grow as leaders and teammates.

I truly believe in the potential of our players, our coaches, and our volunteers to elevate Alberni Valley hockey to new heights. And I believe that together—with a shared commitment to development, inclusion, and community—we can build something even stronger.

Thank you for your continued support of AVMHA. I look forward to seeing many of you at the rink and working together to make this a great season for all.

Sincerely,

Tasha Frechette

President
